Paddling Titicaca is not like paddling anywhere else: the water is a mirror most mornings, the air holds far less oxygen, and the cordillera sits in front of you the whole time. We have the kayaks, the vests, and twenty years of knowing where to take you and when to head out.

Do I need previous experience?

Not for the calm outings through the reed beds. If you have never paddled, the guide runs you through it before you get on the water.

Is it safe to paddle at this altitude?

Yes, with a vest, a guide and in the sheltered parts of the lake. What does help is spending at least one day in Puno first, so you arrive acclimatised.

What time do you go out?

Mornings by preference, when the lake is stillest. The exact time is agreed when you book.
