Up here the air holds close to a third less oxygen than at sea level and the sun is strong all year. That is why it pays to arrive in Puno a day before heading out to the islands.

Where everything sits

Everything leaves from the port of Puno

The nearest islands are ten kilometres out; the furthest, forty. Sillustani is not on the lake but beside Lake Umayo, 34 km away by road. The dashed line is the border with Bolivia, which runs through the lake. Tap a destination to see the distance and the tours that go there.

Where do the tours leave from?

The lake tours leave from Puno: island tours board at the port of Puno and Sillustani goes by road. The city tour and the Colca Canyon leave from Arequipa. All of them include pickup and drop-off at your hotel within each city's coverage area.

What is the difference between shared and private?

On the shared service you travel with other passengers on a fixed schedule. On the private one the boat or vehicle and the guide are for your group only, and the timing fits you. For Uros and for Uros and Taquile, private starts at 2 travellers.

Are prices per person?

Tours, yes, private ones included. Only transfers are priced per service. All prices are in US dollars.

How many passengers fit in a transfer?

Each route price covers up to 3 passengers. From the fourth on, add US$ 10 per person.

How do I book?
