Located in the surroundings of the national reservation of the lake titicaca and 6.2 miles (10 km) from the port of puno.
They owe their name to an old community, formed by big floating islands made from totora reeds, where the residents continue maintaining the customs and their ancestor’s idiosyncrasy.
Their main activities are the fishing, hunting and now the tourism, they posses a great ability to knit the reeds.
